| OpenSource World announces keynote speakers |

IDG World Expo has announced speakers for its inaugural OpenSource World 2009 show (formerly LinuxWorld) on Aug. 12-13 in San Francisco. California Secretary of State Debra Bowen will keynote the conference, which will feature presentations on Linux desktops, netbooks, Android, mobile devices, enterprise, security, troubleshooting, and numerous "cloud" topics.
In October, IDG World Expo announced that LinuxWorld, the largest conference devoted to Linux technology, would relaunch as the OpenSource World Conference & Expo. The show is retaining existing LinuxWorld features, but will open up to open source applications on platforms beyond Linux. To be held at the Moscone Center West as usual, OpenSource World will, as was previously announced, be co-located with IDG World Expo's third annual Next Generation Data Center (NGDC) event. In addition, a "CloudWorld" conference will also be colocated.

California Secretary of State Debra Bowen (pictured), will offer the keynote address to OpenSource World 2009, says IDG World Expo. Bowen is said to have been been recognized in the open source industry for her familiarity with the benefits of open source.
The conference will also feature a keynote panel called "Assessing the Real Market Opportunities and Obstacles for Making Cloud Computing Mainstream." The panel will feature:- Jeffrey M. Kaplan -- conference chairman for CloudWorld and managing director for THINKstrategies, Inc.
- Sam Charrington -- VP of product management and marketing, Appistry, Inc.
- James Urquhart -- market manager, cloud computing and virtualization, Cisco Systems
- Joe Weinman -- strategy and business development, AT&T Business Solutions
Continuing last year's LinuxWorld experiment, OpenSource World will again offer a Mobile Linux track, this year called "Open Source in Mobile". The conference will also offer tracks on desktops and netbooks, enterprise application infrastructure, deployment and management, security, and systems troubleshooting.
